Course Description:

Founded in 1985 on the lands that were formerly Lamb Brothers fruit farm. Beaverstown Golf Club, have made dramatic improvements over its short history.  What was a fine test of golf with many memorable holes, the club was regularly producing many fine young golfers both in boys and girls.

Its most famous son and daughter to date would be Gary Cullen who won the Irish Open Championship at The Royal Dublin in 1999 and Martina Gillen who has represented her country at every level. However the members not content with having a good golf course were determined to have one of the best courses in Ireland. With this in mind they the monumental decision in January 2000, to have Peter McEvoy redesign the existing 18-holes and complete the clubhouse proposals already approved at a meeting in May 1999.

McEvoy assisted by Craig Cooke proceeded to re-shape the course almost beyond recognition to the approval of the members and visitors alike. In October 2001 the "new" course was officially opened with a four-ball between the Captain, President, Lady Captain and John Clinton representing the course sub-committee. The unanimous opinion was that the "new" course presented an exiting challenge to golfers of all handicap categories.

Beaverstown winds its way through acres of mature apple trees, which are particularly beautiful during apple blossom time in the month of May. The orchards border the tees, fairways and greens of eight of the holes, while water comes into play on twelve holes.

Besides being a very fine golf course Bodenstown is undoubtedly one of the friendliest clubs in Ireland.

Congratulations to James Richardson on winning "golfer of the year" 1999, with unbelievably consistent scoring in all the major competitions. James whom I am reliably informed, is a most prolific prize winner on the golfing circuit and I'm sure his fellow-golfers are pleased to see him win yet again.
