Course Description:

Castlecomer Golf club has joined the ranks of rare golfing gems to be designed by Pat Ruddy. The course is crafted out of beautiful mature forest terrain providing not just wonderful golf but stunning views of the surrounding countryside as well. In 2006 Castlecomer was voted into the top 100 golf courses in Ireland which in itself is testimony to this prestigious layout.  Without doubt Castlecomer has arrived as a must play venue in the South East.”Castlecomer Golf Club is one of the "Best Kept Golfing secrets In The South East".

"Seldom does one come across a site so admirably positioned and suited to golf. Right along the main thoroughfares and yet protected from careless wanderers by the river Deen, the site lends itself to good golf. Gently undulating and well endowed with mature trees such as Oak, Sycamore, Maple, Lime, Horse Chestnut, Elm, Ash, Douglas Fir, Australian Pine, Beech and Copper Beech, the club is fortunate to have acquired such a site as the old lawns of the Wandersforde Estate". Pat Ruddy, internationally renowned golf course designer.

Castlecomer Golf Club is presently undergoing Major Development. With the club embarking on an exciting extension plan to 18-holes, which will truly compliment their wonderful current layout, very soon Castlecomer promises to challenge as one of the top golf course attractions in the country. The, development was completed by late 2002 and was carried out under the watchful eye of Pat Ruddy.

Club History

Founded 1935. There is some confusion as to where and when Castlecomer was first founded. The 1906-7 edition of The Golfing Annual give it as Castlecomer Golf Club, Hon. Secretary, T. Ferguson, Castlecomer Co. Wexford. There is no listing in the Irish Golfers Guide from 1910 to 1916. The GUI records an affiliation date of 4th September, 1906, but nothing more is heard of until 1933 when the present club was founded.
