Course Description:

Callan is a parkland course with, well placed spinney's, water features on 8-holes, and maintained to a very high standard. The Ladies Course is 5451 yd's with a par of 73 and SSS of 72. The Men's Course is 6,422 yd's from the blue tees with a SSS of 72.The Professional course record is 67 gross held by Club Pro. John O’Dwyer. The Amateur record is 66 gross held by Brian Duggan (Snr.). The 1st 6 holes especially, require accuracy off the tee, this part of the course has been in play since 1929 .The 2nd hole - par 3, 210 yd's varies from a 3 or 4 iron to a driver depending on conditions, a great hole! The 5th hole par 4 - 330 yd's, narrow fairway, spinney on right, out of bounds on left demands a well placed drive and a careful 2nd shot to a nice green well guarded by bunkers. On the newer part of the course the 7th par4 - 450 yd's with water on the left is a good test for all golfers. The 8th hole, par 4 at 348 yd's, water left and right and a green with nice contours is an interesting hole. The 10th, par 3-140 yd's over water is a lovely hole. On the 11th, the stream catches many a tee shot, the carry over the water is approx. 220 yd's. Play short of the stream, is best advice for most golfers. The 13th, 407 yd's par 4 index 2 is rated the best hole by many of our members and visitors alike. Certainly it demands accuracy and good length off the tee. Having played the 14th par-3 you cross the main road to play the 15th par 5 at 511 yd's a wonderful golf hole!. Next the par 3, 16th from an elevated tee, to a green where pin placement can make a huge difference. The 17th is a par 5 reachable in two strokes by many, but will become a lot more difficult when spinney's grow and tend to calm the big hitters off the tee. The 18th is a good finishing hole with a fine view of the green from the Clubhouse and the added pressure of knowing you may have an audience, albeit a friendly one.

Having completed your round you are assured of a very friendly welcome in our bar and we hope you will return again.
